Privacy and cookies
Last updated 4 November 2026
This page explains what happens to the details you send me through this website, and the cookies the site uses. In short: I only use your details to reply to you, and analytics cookies are only set if you accept them.
Who I am
This website belongs to Simon Ward, trading as Ward Restoration, 45 Main Road, Littleton, Winchester, SO22 6QJ. I am responsible for any personal details you send me through it. If you have a question about this policy, email me at simon@wardrestoration.co.uk or call 01962 884412.
What I collect
When you use the free estimate form, I receive:
- your name
- your email address
- what the piece is and what has happened to it
- any photos you add
If you email or phone me directly, I receive whatever you include in that message or call. I don't collect anything else about you through the site.
How I use it
I use your details to reply to you, give you an estimate and, if you go ahead, arrange and carry out the work. I never sell your details, share them for marketing or add you to a mailing list.
The law allows me to do this because you have asked me for an estimate, which is a step towards a contract between us. Once work is done, I keep basic records because I have a legal duty to keep business accounts.
Who else handles it
A few companies help me run the website and my email. They only handle your details to provide that service to me:
- Cloudflare hosts the website and runs a security check on the form to stop spam.
- Resend delivers what you send through the form to my inbox.
- Hostinger provides my email account.
Some of these companies store data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they protect it with safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK-US data bridge or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long I keep it
If an enquiry doesn't lead to any work, I delete it within 12 months. If I do work for you, I keep your name, contact details and a record of the job for six years, because I have to keep business records for that long for tax.
Analytics
If you accept cookies, the site uses Google Analytics to show me how many people visit, which pages they look at, roughly where in the country they are, what kind of device they use and how they found the site. It doesn't tell me who you are, and Google Analytics doesn't store your IP address. If you reject cookies, Google Analytics doesn't load at all.
I also use Google Search Console, which shows me which Google searches the site appears in and how often people click through. It works from Google's own search data, so it doesn't add anything to this website or set any cookies on your device.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. This site uses:
- _ga and _ga_7ZLJE56TTT (Google Analytics). These tell one visit from another so visitors are counted correctly. They last two years, and are only set if you accept.
- cookie-consent. This remembers whether you accepted or rejected cookies, so you aren't asked on every page. It is saved in your browser's storage rather than as a cookie, and stays until you clear it.
The security check on the form is provided by Cloudflare. It is needed for the form to work and isn't used for tracking or advertising, so it runs whatever you choose. You can always send the form, whether you accept or reject cookies.
You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. If you switch from accept to reject, the Google Analytics cookies are removed.
Your rights
You can ask me to:
- tell you what details I hold about you and send you a copy
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your details, unless I need to keep them for my accounts
- stop using your details or restrict how I use them
Just email me at simon@wardrestoration.co.uk and I will reply within a month. If you are unhappy with how I have handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If anything changes, I will update this page and the date at the top.
